Sorry for not posting this past week! Today I will be
posting about France’s
history pacifically where is come from and why it is called France.
In the olden days France
used to be part of a Celtic region called Gaul or Gallia.
In 600 B.C the people of this nation moved up the Rhine Valley
and made a settlement which is known today as Marseille. Germany conquered it in the 5th century
when the Roman Empire fell. Four centuries
later it became an independent country.
France
in Latin means “country of Franks”. Franks we what used to be France’s currency before it switched over to the
Euro as with all the other countries in Europe.
That's very interesting Kiana! I had no idea how France became a country and your blog was very interesting to read! I would have loved to live when France first became a country! It would have been awesome to see the first settlements and how the french lived during this time period! I had no idea France ment Franks! That's very cool! I love learning about France and I'm excited to read your next post!
ReplyDeleteWow! France was conquered in the 5th century, while Australia wasn't discovered by Europeans until the 17th century!France also became an independent country much earlier than Australia. That's very interesting! I never knew that the name France, meant "country of Franks", or even had a meaning for that matter. It's funny that the name of a French country isn't even in French, but in Latin.
ReplyDeleteWow! that's very interesting, Kiana. I did not know that france was started such a long time ago. Amazing! When I first saw the title, I thought it was going to be boring. but since you described it so well, I was intruiged! My country, the UAE, was formed much later than yours. I am looking forward to seeing your next blog!
