#3- The French Word Salute means both Hello and Goodbye. (Mrs. Congeniality: so if your on the phone with somebody and they won't stop talking and you say, okay aloha (in our case Salute) won't they just start over again?) did i get a laugh? No, "well at least she thinks I'm funny."
#4- "Yo, ho, haul together, hoist the colors high. Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never say we die." We knew people have been hung for committing a crime but a pig? What do these French people have with pigs! Yes in 1386 a pig was hung for being accused of committing a murder.
#5- "Let them eat cake!" Most of you are probably also thinking somewhere along he lines of 'Off with their heads!" Right? Well the first of the two phrases is falsely associated with Marie Antoinette. She never actually did say that seeing as the phrase was created 10 years before her birth.
#6- "Mennonite Girls Can Cook" "For the Joy of Cooking" are just two cooks books. There are two cook books published a day in France.
#7- "Here comes the Bride all dressed in white!" 1499 wearing a white wedding dress became a french tradition.
#8- The statue of Liberty was actually made in France.
