The colors of France's Tricolor flag!




The France flag dates back to 1789 when it was just signifies the city of Paris; however in 1794 it became the national flag. The blue became one of the three colors on France’s flag because blue was the color of Saint Martin, a man who had split his blue coat in two and then gave half of it to the poor, this signified the duty the rich had to the poor. The white appears on the flag because of the Virgin Mary, and because of Joan of Arc managed to get the British out of France in the 15th century. The red is there because of a patron Saint of Paris by the name of Saint Denis.

Interesting Fact: The French flag is the backdrop to the President of France whenever he speaks to the public.

This Cathedral is well known because of the book “The Hunch Back of Notre Dame” by Victor Hugo.
